SARAYA takes part in World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021

SARAYA is joining the annual campaign, dedicated to the problem of antimicrobial resistance spreading among pathogens, which will be held on 18-24 November 2021.

When humanity discovered penicillin and other drugs that were able to fight infectious diseases, it felt like a victory. Unfortunately, misuse and overuse of antimicrobials, poor hygiene conditions, lack of clean water, and other factors have contributed to drugs losing their effect on pathogens, as they are gradually evolving and developing resistance. The so-called Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is one of the biggest threats to our wellbeing in the modern world, with many infectious diseases that used to be treatable becoming less or no longer curable.

This year’s theme 'Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance' is called to inspire the action to raise awareness, spread knowledge, and share their stories about AMR. Everyone can take part and make a difference, and the easiest way would be “Going Blue” as the light blue was selected as AMR awareness color with the last day (24 November) of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week announced as ‘Go Blue for AMR’ Day.

WAAW is supported and actively promoted by World Health Organization, and you can find more detailed information about antimicrobial resistance on the WHO official website:
