One Health, One Action: Prevent AMR Now – Join SARAYA to recognize World AMR Awareness Week 2026

Join SARAYA from 18-24 November 2026 to celebrate World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2026.

Annually, WAAW raises awareness of antimicrobial resistance and encourages action to address its growing impact. This year’s theme, “One Health, one action: Prevent AMR now,” highlights the vital connection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health, and encourages action through all sectors to prevent and tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

AMR develops when microorganisms, like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, no longer respond to medicines used to treat the infections they cause. Consequently, infections may become harder to treat, increasing the risk of serious complications, prolonged illness, and even death. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 4.7 million deaths occur yearly associated with bacterial AMR (based on data collected in 2021).

Although resistance to antimicrobial treatments can develop naturally over time, the inappropriate or excessive use of antimicrobial medicines can accelerate this process. The spread of resistant microorganisms also makes infection prevention and control (IPC) practices extremely important.

When infections are prevented, fewer people need antimicrobial treatment, which, in turn, helps slow the development of AMR. Effective IPC measures also help to reduce the transmission of resistant microorganisms, which is particularly vital in healthcare facilities.

At SARAYA, we believe that effective infection prevention is an integral part of creating safer healthcare environments and supporting global efforts against antimicrobial resistance. Through reliable solutions and a science-based approach, we can contribute to reducing infection risks and protecting lives.

Take part with us from November 18 to 24 to help turn the campaign message into practical action, use the official campaign resources, and share accurate information about World AMR Awareness Week. Awareness is the first step towards action.
